John's Steam Locomotive
This one is a model of a Shay geared locomotive - much like the one that used to run at the Museum of Science and Tech. close to you guys. It will eventually be coal fired, but at first, until the bugs are worked out, will be fired with propane.
You can see that it is not quite complete - picked up some brass for the propane burner this AM, a few other minor things to finish, then paint, then...
(the part in in rightmost picture is a steam turret, takes the steam off the top of the boiler, and distributes it to things like the pressure gauge, etc. This is made in two large parts, CNC cut channels in the middle, silver soldered together)
